Immigration officers interdicted over illegal entries || Five officers of the Ghana Immigration Service stationed at the Aflao Sector Command in the Volta region have been interdicted for allegedly facilitating the illegal entries of foreign nationals through unapproved routes on the Ghana-Togo border.
The five officers, Asst. Inspector Isaac Ahiafor Agbenyega, Asst. Inspector Sarah Adubea, ICO Juliana Anning, ICO Jennifer Owusu and R.O Joyce Nketia were interdicted on Thursday, 9 July 2020 for engaging in an act which constitutes an offence under Section 52(1) of the Ghana Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).
According to a statement from the GIS, their actions are not only in contravention of the Ghana Immigration Act 2000 but also amounts to a breach of the President’s directives on border closure to curb cross border spread of the deadly Covid-19.
While on interdiction, the officers are entitled two thirds (2/3) of their salaries; the statement added.
