Ghana Make-Up Awards 2020 || Make-Up Ghana, organisers of the prestigious Ghana Make-Up Awards, has introduced four new categories to the fourth edition of the awards ceremony.
Dubbed ‘Covid-19 Response Categories’, these are targeted at empowering stakeholders in the beauty industry to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The categories include digital education, digital advocacy, digital commerce & marketing and best innovative response strategy.
Individuals who spent valuable time on digital platforms to educate and create awareness on Covid-19 safety protocols as well as those who come up with most effective products to help fight Covid-19 would be honoured in the categories.
This was disclosed in a press statement to call for nominations for the annual awards ceremony held to celebrate excellence in the beauty and make-up industry. Call for nomination would close on September 30, 2020.
“We encourage beauty professionals to nominate themselves as we are rewarding individuals or brands who believe their work has stood out and that they have made significant impact in the beauty industry and also contributions towards the fight against the coronavirus,” CEO of Make-Up Ghana, Rebecca Donkor, indicated.
She also added that due to the current global pandemic, this year’s event would not be as elaborate as the previous events.
“Our highly anticipated categories such as the make-up artiste of the year, hairstylist of the year, among others, will not be vied for this year. And our live nominee tasks will also not take place this year. This year’s categories will shed light on the beauty community’s contribution towards the fight against the Covid-19, and we will also use this opportunity to give out selected industry awards to deserving individuals,” she disclosed.
But stakeholders are expected to pick industry awards in categories such as industry choice award (most influential), beauty entrepreneur of the year, beauty brand of the year and discovery artiste of the year.
The Ghana Make-Up Awards is an industry award for the make-up and beauty industry aimed at fostering excellence by rewarding and celebrating pioneers, leading professionals and upcoming talent within the industry, as well as businesses and brands who are contributing to economic growth.
Organisers are yet to announce when the event would come off this year.
