According to him, the priority of all countries around the globe who have been affected by the pandemic is to get a cure or solution to the virus which has affected more than 1 million persons globally and killed over 54,000.

Addressing the media on Friday, April 3, 2020, on concerns that some French doctors are proposing the testing of some vaccines on the African continent, Dr. Aboagye noted that Ghana, like any other country, is ready and waiting for such an opportunity.

He, however, admitted that currently, there has not been any approved vaccine for the treatment of COVID-19.

“Ever since this disease started, many researchers are doing an enhanced and fast track approach in developing a vaccine. Ghana, like any other country, is ready and waiting for such an opportunity to take part and so once there is an approved vaccine, Ghana will get involved and this is a global pandemic so globally we want everybody to be cured but there is no approved vaccine now,” he stated.

Thatcelebrity.com reported the intention of some French doctors who are proposing that Africa should be the first place to begin the testing of newly developed coronavirus vaccines.

One of the doctors said, “If I can be provocative, shouldn’t we do this study in Africa, where there are no masks, no treatment, no resuscitation, a bit like it has been done in some studies in AIDS, where among prostitutes, we try things, because they are exposed, and they don’t protect themselves, what do you think?”
